Michelle King, MSW, LCSW is the Director of Practice Education for the Master of Social Work Program and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Social Work at Colorado Mesa University. She teaches both Foundation and Clinical/Advanced Year Seminar courses, supporting students as they integrate classroom learning within the context of community-based practice.
With over 16 years of clinical social work experience, King has worked in diverse settings, including K–12 schools, nonprofit organizations, and medical environments. Much of her clinical work has focused on providing therapeutic interventions to children and families experiencing illness, anticipatory grief, and bereavement. Before transitioning to higher education, she supervised numerous BSW and MSW students in community agencies. King’s professional background shapes her teaching and mentoring, which emphasize culturally responsive and trauma-informed practice, strengths-based supervision, and the development of a strong professional social work identity.
As MSW Director of Practice Education, King collaborates closely with community agencies to cultivate meaningful and high-quality practice placements. She is deeply committed to preparing students for ethical and client-centered practice across diverse settings.
